Google uses mobile-first indexing, which means it primarily looks at the mobile version of your pages when deciding how to rank them. If content, headings or links are missing on mobile, as far as Google is concerned, they barely exist.

Content in priority order
On a small screen, you can't show everything at once. Decide what matters most, usually what you do, why you, and what to do next, and put it first.
Thumb-friendly buttons
Buttons and links need to be big enough to tap and spaced so people don't hit the wrong one. The main action should be easy to reach.
Readable text
Body text around 16 pixels, good contrast and short paragraphs. Nobody should need to zoom.
Simple navigation
A clear menu, a visible search for stores with many products, and no menus that only work on hover.
Forms that are easy to fill
Fewer fields, the right keyboard for each field (number pad for phone numbers), and autofill enabled.
Speed

Mistakes that cost sales on mobile
- Popups that cover the whole screen and are hard to close
- Sticky bars that take up a third of the screen
- Tiny variant selectors on product pages
- Horizontal scrolling because something is too wide
- WhatsApp or chat buttons covering the Add to Cart button
A five-minute mobile test
- Open your site on an ordinary phone, not the latest flagship.
- Turn off Wi-Fi.
- Try to find a product or service, understand it and contact or buy.
- Note every moment you hesitate, squint or mis-tap.
- Fix those first.
