Many Indian brands have thousands of engaged Instagram followers and a website that barely gets visits. Followers like, comment and send DMs asking "price?", but the journey from a post to a purchase is full of friction. Closing that gap is often the quickest way to grow online sales.
Make the path obvious
Your bio link is valuable. Point it to a page that's built for Instagram visitors: your latest collection, a simple link page with your key categories and current offer, or a landing page for a specific campaign. Don't just send everyone to your homepage.
Use Instagram Shopping
If you're on Shopify, you can connect your catalogue to Instagram and tag products in posts and reels, so people can tap straight through to the product. Check the current eligibility requirements in Meta's commerce settings.
Answer "price?" before it's asked
Mention prices in captions or on product tags. Many followers won't ask; they'll just scroll on. When they do DM, reply quickly with a direct product link, not just a number.
Make the landing experience match
If a reel shows a specific kurta set, the link should go to that product, not a generic collection. Keep the same look, the same offer and the same words from post to page. Read our landing page guide.
Make the website fast on mobile
Instagram traffic is almost entirely on phones, often from the in-app browser. If your site is slow or awkward on mobile, most of that traffic is lost. See mobile-first design and why Shopify stores slow down.
Use stories and highlights
Stories with link stickers for new launches, restocks and offers. Highlights for best-sellers, reviews, sizing help and how to order. They act like a mini-website inside your profile.
Build trust for first-time buyers
Many followers have never bought online from a small brand. Share customer reviews, unboxing videos, your return policy and your team behind the scenes. Make sure the website shows the same trust signals.
Capture followers you can reach again
Encourage followers to join your email list or WhatsApp updates, so you're not relying only on the algorithm. See our guide to email marketing for online stores.
Track what works
Add UTM tags to your bio and story links so you can see in GA4 which posts and campaigns actually drive sales, not just clicks. Our GA4 guide explains how.
